Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz drew a shout-out from President Barack Obama while attending a speech the president delivered to non-profit group leaders Tuesday afternoon in the East Room of the White House.
“I also want to thank Dave Cieslewicz — I want to make sure I say that properly — of Madison, Wisconsin, and Mayor Sara Presler of Flagstaff, Arizona, for their commitment as well. Please give them a big round of applause,” Obama said, according to Politico.
Cieslewicz said he was invited to attend the speech by David Agnew, White House deputy director of intergovernmental affairs, for his work in helping to found the Mayors Innovation Project, which brings mayors together to discuss progressive solutions for cities.

Mayor Dave gets props from the leader of the free world while Brenda Konkel is knocked out of local office by a 24 year old girl. Karma?

She’s literally one of the worst political minds in the history of Madison politics. That doesn’t help. Passionate, dedicated, socially-conscious? Yes, yet still a Hiroshima-Nagasaki-Abu Gahrib cocktail of political bafoonery. Given the realities of a 20 person Council, being bad at the game of politics rendered her no better than a talking Diet Coke can.
